About the Centre

The Centre for Research Methods in the Social Sciences is located within the Department of Politics and International Relations in the Social Sciences building. The Centre is intended to develop rigorous advanced and appropriate techniques and methods for application to research across the social sciences, particularly in the area of quantitative methods, and to provide teaching and advice to students and researchers in all of the Social Sciences at Oxford with the exception of the Department of Economics.
ReMiSS currently comprises six University Lecturers and a director from among the established staff as well as postdoctoral fellows and a Professor of Statistics. Members of social science departments using quantitative methods are associated with the Centre, including those working in quantitative political science within the Department, as well as many other researchers in Oxford, especially in Sociology and Social Policy, with interests in the application of quantitative methods in social science research.
